The final wing of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort was completed in September bringing to a close the last traces of Pop Century’s abandoned Legendary Years. Guests are now invited to slumber in Ariel’s colorful “Little Mermaid” wing with its vibrant under sea decor. The Little Mermaid saw its first guests arrive on Saturday Sept. 15 and is the only section of this Resort offering the standard 4 person rooms. Little Mermaid room rates start at $94 and increase depending on season. The completed Resort includes “Finding Nemo”, “Cars” and “The Lion King” wings as well, all set in a fun animated tone.
Guests will delight in the sea-inspired color palette and fun aquatic motif, as they become part of Ariel’s world plunging “under the sea.” With colorful fish swimming along the walls and a painting of Prince Eric, you’ll feel right at home in your oyster shell.
Outside in the courtyard you’ll also find playful film-inspired décor and characters from the undersea kingdom including Ursula, King Triton and Sebastian come to life. Surrounded by Flounder and friends, a larger-than-life Ariel overlooks “The Little Mermaid” courtyard and Flippin’ Fins pool where Guests can beach themselves for some quiet time in the sun. For more active swimming fun, check out the Big Blue Pool with it’s slides, splash zones, ping pong and pool bar. No pool hopping is available however as the Big Blue Pool is gated and you need an active Art of Animation Key to The World Card to access the fun.
From what we can tell so far Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is a fantastic spot to spend your Disney World Vacation. Just a short walk across the Generation Gap Bridge (which is now open) from Pop Century, it also opens up a new near by dining options for folks staying at Pop Century!
