The 1980s Section at Pop Century

Pop Century’s 80’s Building

As a child of the 1980s, I have to admit that I’m a fan of the 1980s section at Pop Century if only for the icons that harken back to my childhood!

The 1980s section is located between the 1970s and the 1990s sections (‘natch!) and offers guest a bit of a longer walk to Classic Hall than other areas of the resort (especially if we’re comparing the 1950s or 1960s sections). The building with the rooms 7101 to 7472 are pretty far out there on property but it’s still walkable.

The icons in the section include Roger Rabbit, a Rubik’s Cube, and a giant Walkman (remember those?). Kids will get a kick out of these icons, especially when you try to explain what a Walkman was for. The buildings in this section feature 80s words like “Yuppies” and “Fer Shure” (remember those Valley Girls? Like, totally!)

The 1980s section shares the quiet Computer Pool area with the 1990s – and just be careful when you’re walking on the oversize keyboard at night while you’re trying to take photos of your kids. It’s VERY easy to fall off the keyboard and injure yourself. (I speak from experience).

The quiet pools are a great place to spend an afternoon and escape the louder and more crowded main feature pool – which is one reason we love this section. Just be sure to grab your frozen beverage at the Petals Pool Bar before heading back to the 1980s.

There really isn’t a bad section at Pop Century, but you’ll still want to factor in travel time when deciding if you want to request a certain section at the resort.
